Choosing the right kind of valve for your business can be quite a tedious job. Even the most experienced technician might find it difficult to select the right type of valves. Let us first begin with the meaning of the world ‘Valve’. A valve is used to regulate, direct and control the flow of liquid or gas from a pipe.
Valves are used by many leading industries, commercial sectors, residential sectors, military and even the transport sectors. These valves are also used in our homes, such as valves found in a tap of water to stop and start the flow of water or even valves can be found in our pressure cooker which releases the gas and stops the gas.
There are two ways in which a valve operates. It can be either manual or automatic. Manual operation is by the use of pedal, handle or lever. Automatic operation on the other hand is a bit more complex but since it is operated automatically without the need of human help, it is considered to be safe and long lasting. It is usually run with the help of an actuator. Some of the examples of automatic valves are motor, solenoid and pneumatic. Valves are mostly used in large industries such as oil and gas, water reticulation, mining, power generation and chemical manufacturing. It could be dangerous when any of the valves fail to function and even the results obtained can be different. Therefore, proper functioning of a valve is equally important when it comes to automatic operation.
We must remember that just like any other products that are used in any industry, no matter how strong, robust and well built the material can be, it requires maintenance. Similarly, valves too require regular maintenance in order to allow it to function smoothly and not cause any damage to the industry.
