Valves are used in different sectors of the industry such as the petroleum industry, metallurgy industry, chemical, urban construction, electric power and even environmental protection etc.
First of all, it is very important to know the main function of a valve. A valve is a part of industrial equipment that helps in stopping the flow of any kind of gas or liquid. Without a valve, it would be very difficult for any industry to function. A valve helps in sealing a pipe and protects it from any leakage. It is very important that a valve helps in preventing a leakage of a pipeline as otherwise the machinery will fail to function. There are three different points that have to be taken into consideration. They are 1- the attachment within the opening and the closing device, 2- the space within the valve stuffing and the valve stem and 3- the joint within the valve cover and the valve body.
There are different types of industrial valves. Some of the different types of valves are listed below –
1- Ball, plug and butterfly valves – These valves provide a path of flow. The ball valves come with a hole, the plug valves come in a cylindrical shape while the butterfly valves come in the shape of wings.
2- Globe and gate valves – These valves are also very famous and are mostly used to stop and start the flow of liquid or gas.
3- Diaphragm and pinch valves – These valves are mostly used in applications that require a high level of purity.
The above mentioned are some of the different types of valves that are used in most of the industrial units across the globe. As an example, valves are even found in many homes. If you check your bathroom faucet, you will notice that you can stop and start the flow of water by turning on or turning off the faucet. This is because of the valve that is fixed inside the faucet.
